HELLO EVERYONE, I AM JAMES. I GAVE UP THE BOOZE BACK IN JUNE 2020. I AM VERY LUCKY I HAVE NO CRAVINGS NOR A DESIRE TO DRINK. THAT'S NOT BY LUCK, BUT BY USING THE TOOLS PROVIDED & EMBRACING IT IS A MENTAL HEALTH CONDITION. I BELIEVE ADDICTION THERAPY / TREATMENT SHOULD BE AS TAILORED AND AS AFFORDABLE AS POSSIBLE. BUT. IT IS NOT.

Again, welcome to my blog, a place where I can share my greatest inspiration and candidly display the different sides of my project, which will include running this dry travel blog and the day to day hosting guests at our dry vacation rentals & dry BNB in Tenerife. All whilst remaining sober. No easy feat but it is working so far.
I don't follow AA/12 steps but I do take the bits I find useful for my recovery. I stick with the winners and when I hire, I try and recruit people better than me.
Always happy to discuss where I attended rehab in the U.K. & my bespoke recovery.
Having worked in the travel industry all my life I believe this open site will help others have the most enjoyable sober holiday possible.
I invite you to explore my content and learn about what makes me tick and keeps me sober. Please reach out and engage—I’m obviously very happy to hear from you, as well. In fact, without your content, the site will not work.
I am creating a safe space for those in recovery to travel / go on holiday. I entered recovery in June 2020 and I have remained sober. Most of us love travel and I am no exception, having travelled over half the planet.
As you might see in the media articles below, I believed a dry BNB & a sober vacation rental in sunny Tenerife would prove popular with those in recovery. And it has, with repeat guests but equally those that drink responsibly visit us too.
Whilst managing these, I believe where we are based in Tenerife could make the ideal destination for those in recovery.
So whilst we continue this mission to add tried and tested properties, we also felt that a global travel offering, tips, ideas might help others in recovery too. Please contribute as much content as you can. Simply share you holiday experiences that have been a success for yourself in sobriety. #givingback
BEEN ON A HOLIDAY IN SOBRIETY AND HAD A GREAT TIME?
Please give back by sharing your positive experiences with others & be in a chance to WIN 3 nights, bed & breakfast for 2 at Casa Salvia Vacation Rental in North West Tenerife.
Hello and welcome to our blog which will only enhance your recovery ride. Most of us in recovery are told we must be a better version of ourselves.
We agree with that but James' mission is to try and make his life even better than the 1 before completing 4 weeks residential rehab in June 2020.
He is living proof it is possible. Others can hopefully join in for the recovery ride too.
GIVING BACK, IF YOU MISSED THE FORM ABOVE
And this is how you can help if you don't like forms
What is it that fuels you? For myself & my colleagues, 1 thing is sharing experiences during sobriety. I love writing about my daily life and what interests me, and sharing all of my thoughts with my readers. The site is an open and honest platform about how to make the best of what comes my way. Be 1 of the first contributors & give back.
A quick email (for now). Please detail the following, or similar if you've had a positive holiday experience in recovery within the last 18 months-
- Location of the accommodation?
- Solo traveller or other?
- Why was it a great sober or dry holiday?
- Who else in the dry holidays community might it suit?
- Recommendations for the trip?
Any photos would be great too...
