dryholidays for recovering alcoholics & addicts to holiday. Puerto de la Cruz, North Tenerife

Updated: Jun 4, 2023

Puerto de La Cruz is indeed a great destination for guests staying at Casa Salvia Icod. Located just a 25-minute drive away, it offers a safe and enjoyable experience. The town is recognized as a safe space, allowing visitors to explore and enjoy their time without concerns.

Puerto de La Cruz offers various activities and attractions during the day, allowing you to make the most of your stay and enjoy the beauty of the town.

During the day these are alternatives to a popular zoo, I refuse to mention. The exceptional Botanical Gardens & visiting the restaurants we will have mentioned using the hashtag #casasalviaguests

My Top 3

1. Lago Martiánez: Lago Martiánez is a stunning complex of seawater pools designed by the renowned Canarian architect César Manrique. The pools are beautifully landscaped with volcanic rocks, waterfalls, and lush gardens. It's a perfect place to relax, swim, and enjoy the breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean. Lago Martiánez also features restaurants, bars, and sunbathing terraces, making it a complete leisure complex. Unlike the beaches I have never seen this over crowded making it a perfect location for sunbathing and holidays for recovering addicts

2. Playa Jardín: Playa Jardín is a popular black sand beach located in Puerto de la Cruz. Designed by César Manrique, the beach is known for its striking beauty and unique landscaping. Surrounded by beautiful gardens, palm trees, and colorful flowers, it offers a picturesque setting for sunbathing, swimming, and leisurely walks along the shore. Playa Jardín also has a promenade lined with cafes and restaurants, perfect for enjoying a meal or a refreshing drink with ocean views. If you visit with children there is plenty of complimentary play equipment within the Jardin.

3. Plaza del Charco: Plaza del Charco is the main square and social hub of Puerto de la Cruz. The lively square is surrounded by charming cafes, restaurants, and shops, creating a vibrant atmosphere. It's a great place to relax, people-watch, and soak in the local culture. The plaza often hosts live music performances and cultural events, making it an ideal spot to experience the town's lively ambiance.

These attractions, including Lago Martiánez, Playa Jardín, and Plaza del Charco, showcase the natural beauty, architectural excellence, and vibrant atmosphere of Puerto de la Cruz, making it a wonderful destination for holidays for recovering addicts

In the evening, visiting Puerto with friends is also considered safe. The locals are known for starting their parties late, around 11 pm, and many can be seen waiting for taxis until 7 am, when the taxi rank reopens. If you choose to join the festivities, it's important to exercise caution and make responsible choices. I have only achieved this once with a much younger guest, I was 46, and had been sober for 2.5 years.

Please keep in mind that while Puerto de La Cruz is generally considered a safe destination, it's always important to take basic precautions and be aware of your surroundings. Enjoy your time in Puerto and remember that no matter the length of your dryholiday, recovery, just like ourselves is unique.

You understand your boundaries better than anyone else.
