It sems some industries and specific professions within this sector are more susceptible to alcoholism. For instance, a noticeable number of medical professionals were in my rotating rehab group back in June 2020. 4 hospital surgeons were kicked out just before I arrived! I only went to 1 and I now see why it worked for me fast approaching 3 years of sobriety on Tuesday 20 June 2023.
Again only from my personal & professional experience. Chefs are particularly suscepitble to alcohol and drug addiction
It also appears professions with high levels of job dissatisfaction or burnout, such as certain office-based jobs, customer service roles, or high-pressure sales positions, may see individuals turning to alcohol, and increasingly drugs as a means of coping or escaping.
What industry do you work in? And do agree that certain professions are more susceptible to risky alcohol or drug use as a means to cope?
